Requayvious Germaynious ...

I was starting a Dungeons & Dragons campaign during COVID and helping Ben create his first character. I expected it to go relatively quickly. We would choose some stats and be done with it. But instead, Ben spent the entire time arguing with me over every single stat for his character.

I would make suggestions and he would say no to all of them, just to annoy me and make me laugh. It wasn’t enough that his character had to have white hair, he made me say it had “white hair with blue wisps.”

We also fought over height, and eye color, and clothing, and character background, and on and on and on. He was relentless and would not stop talking until I finally caved.

The best was when he made me name his character Requayvious Germaynious BayLaDeShauntaymious. (I spelled it De la Shauntaymious but Ben made me change it after an hour-long discussion.)

He fought about everything, and this simple creative process ended up taking us about 4 hours over 2 days. It was the most fun I’ve ever had creating a character sheet. And I’m lucky I got to spend that time with my brother.

I miss you, Ben.

Love,
Abby
