Such was Ben's talent

A few weeks before his passing, I sat next to Ben at rehearsal. I asked him if he could demonstrate a technique on the horn – press valves down and play it as a natural (classical) horn.

He not only did so in the register that I expected, he played a scale in the lower register, where it should not have been possible!

Such was Ben’s talent.

I will miss him dearly.
