We left like nothing happened

Ben is truly an inspiring person who brought so much joy into my life.

I will never forget the time Ben and I went hiking in the Watchung Reservation. We talked about everything from friendships to skiing to the surprising things about Norwegian culture somehow in our conversation.

We ended up at the visitor’s center, where there was a birthday party. I was scared of intruding on them, but Ben led me inside and took a cornbread muffin. We left like nothing happened and continued on our hike through the woods.

Though the moment was brief, it stayed in my mind as one of the many ways Ben taught me it’s okay to take risks – sometimes you get a cornbread muffin out of it.
